Investing in Our People
At Aletheia Academies Trust, we believe that investing in our people is the most powerful way to improve life chances for the children we serve. Our Trust Executive Team brings extensive experience in continuous professional development (CPD) and works strategically across all our academies to create meaningful, high-quality development opportunities for every member of staff.
Our approach to CPD is purposeful and impact-driven, ensuring that professional learning benefits both the individual and the school, and leads directly to improved outcomes for pupils.

Professional Development Across the Trust

Expertise, Collaboration and Impact

Developing People, Leaders and Culture
At Aletheia Academies Trust, we invest in our people through a strategic and inclusive approach to continuous professional development. We provide high-quality CPD for all staff, shaped by the needs of individual academies and Trust priorities, ensuring development opportunities support career progression while directly improving outcomes for pupils.
Our CPD is led by the Trust Executive Team, School Improvement Team and expert external partners, drawing on strong professional knowledge from across our academies. Through Trust-wide CPD days, leadership networks, Best Practice Teams and specialist groups, we create purposeful opportunities for collaboration, professional challenge and the sharing of effective practice that leads to real and measurable impact.
We are committed to building a strong culture of professional learning and leadership development. By identifying and nurturing talent, offering fully funded NPQ programmes, and placing staff wellbeing at the heart of our work through our People and Culture Team, we ensure a sustainable pipeline of confident, skilled professionals who are supported to thrive and to inspire excellence across the Trust.
At Aletheia, staff can expect personalised professional development pathways, high-quality training from experienced educators, and collaborative opportunities that maximise impact across schools. Supported by our People and Culture Team, we place staff wellbeing at the heart of everything we do, ensuring every member of our Trust is empowered to grow, lead, and make a difference for pupils.
Leadership and Specialist Development
We are committed to developing the next generation of leaders within our Trust.
In partnership with the Best Practice Network (BPN) – judged Outstanding by Ofsted – members of our School Improvement Team and Trust Senior Leaders facilitate National Professional Qualification (NPQ) programmes, including:
-
NPQH
-
NPQSL
-
NPQLBC
-
NPQLT
These programmes run at least annually and provide staff with direct access to high-quality, nationally accredited training.
In addition, senior leaders within our schools are offered facilitation training, enabling them to co-deliver programmes alongside Trust Improvement Officers and further strengthen leadership capacity across the Trust.
Our aim is to provide a clear and coherent development pathway for every individual, identifying leadership talent early and supporting a sustainable pipeline of effective leaders through our Performance Management and Professional Development processes.
Best Practice Teams (BPTs) and Subject Development Networks
A key component of our improvement strategy is the focused use of the expertise of our school improvement team, and wider Trust leaders, that exists to support all of our schools.
Our Subject Development Networks include:
- Primary Phase English
- Primary Phase Maths
- Secondary Phase English
- Secondary Phase Maths
- Secondary Phase Science
Our Best Practice Teams (BPTs) include:
- Safeguarding & Attendance
- Pupil Premium
- Inclusion & SEND
- EYFS
- Wider Trust Opportunities
The Groups we have established to support wider Trust Projects include:
- Teaching & Learning Project
- Young Leaders Programme
These groups focus sharply on a range of challenges and offer solutions, practical support, and guidance where it is needed.
Our Phonics and Early Reading Best Practice Team, for example, established a Trust approach to the teaching of phonics (Little Wandle). CPD for all staff, sharing and purchasing resources, lesson visits to schools and focused support where it was needed, ensured the new approach had a very positive and timely impact on standards in reading across the whole Trust.
